Addition of New Ships to the Iranian Navy
Two ships were added to the Iranian navy. According to Iranian media, the two homemade ships were added to the navy’s fleet during a ceremony in the coastal city of Bandar Abbas. One of them is a destroyer named Dina and the other is a minesweeper named Shahin. Dina is actually the fourth Jamran Class Destroyer developed by the Ministry of Defense’s Naval Industries. This destroyer can identify, track and destroy a variety of aerial threats, as well as target submarines. It also has a helicopter dock.
Similarly, the 33-meter Shahin Minesweeper has also been developed locally. Shahin has the ability to identify and destroy different types of mines.
It is to be noted that the recent addition of two ships has been seen in less than two weeks before the Navy’s support ship Kharg caught fire and sank.
