Indonesia's interest in Turkish drones

Indonesia’s interest in Turkish drones

Indonesia is reportedly seeking a drone acquisition from Turkey. Indonesia has previously used Chinese-made CH-4B drones. In fact, Indonesia plans to induct drones in its air force in 2015. Initially, four Wing Loong drones were ordered from China in 2017, but the contract was cancelled in early 2018. The main reason given was the non-involvement of local companies in the tender. In November 2018, Turkish Aerospace Industries offer its Anka-S Drone in partnership with a local company. Surprisingly, instead of Turkish drones, Chinese-made CH-4B orders were placed. China delivered the first two of the six ordered CH-4B drones in August 2019. It should be noted that CH-4B is equipped with satellite communication and has a range of more than 1500km. Now, once again, Indonesia has expressed interest in Turkish-made drones. However, the type of drone was not mentioned, which of the Anka, TB2 or Akinci drones it has expressed interest in.
