Pakistan is organizing the International Maritime Expo and Conference #PIMEC in February 2023. Instead of a routine expo, it is an event of great importance, which is a very significant step not only because of security but also from an economic point of view. In addition to the importance and usefulness of this conference, the products and services to be exhibited in this exhibition will be discussed in detail.

Blue Economy

The sea has always been the center of trade, defense, and water resources for us. It was the sea through which Islamic civilization reached Europe and Africa, and then Europe became the center of power because of that. Not only East India Company, Portugal, Germany & France ruled the world from Asia to Africa through the Ocean in the past.

Even today, all economic and social activities like QUAD and BRI; By means of which powerful countries now rule over weak countries. All of them are linked to trade and the economy through the sea. With this background in mind; And three hundred and twenty square kilometers of Pakistan, which is almost the same area as Balochistan; Pakistan is organizing Maritime Expo for the first time.

Strong growth is expected in the maritime industry by 2030, with over 40 million jobs in the industry and immense opportunities to develop new businesses. Because of the increasing population, globalization, and depletion of land resources, economic activities are being mobilized in the sea. The fastest growth is expected in offshore wind energy, marine aquaculture, fish processing, and port activities.

Therefore, scientific and technological advances will play an important role in addressing the challenges faced by ocean-based economic activities and the marine environment.

Pakistan Maritime Industry

Alhamdulillah, Pakistan has more than 1000 kilometers of coastline. which extends from Sir Creek to Jiwani. There are unique landforms on this coastline, including sandy beaches, mud flats, mud volcanoes, rocky cliffs, beaches, and deltas.

Pakistan’s Exclusive Economic Zone and Continental Shelf cover an area of 290,000 square kilometers, which is larger than the combined area of Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Pakistan’s maritime sector has immense marine resources like hydrocarbons, minerals and fisheries. Endowed with immense maritime capabilities, Pakistan seeks international cooperation to harness the best mix of indigenous and foreign technologies to reap the benefits of a maritime economy.

In view of this importance and usefulness, Pakistan International Maritime Expo and Conference (PIMEC) is being organized with the special efforts of the Pakistan Navy to gather local as well as foreign technology and experiences in one place. Now let’s talk briefly about PIMEC.

PIMEC will be held on February 10-12, 2023 in Karachi. More than 15,000 visitors from more than 65 countries of the world are expected to arrive. The main objective of this exhibition is to tap the blue economy and maritime potential. In this event, local and international public and private stakeholders will be briefed about Pakistan’s maritime potential.
